UPDATE:

I only just discovered this. Am I behind or what? For folks who like Japanese manga/anime, there's also this hilarious Mass Effect High School comic Teach Me Mordin Sensei that you should check out! It's the story of ME 1 and 2 told in manga lesson format by Mordin!

The Blog:

I was chatting with the inimitable :iconshaunsarthouse: and the subject of taking the cast of Mass Effect and putting them into an entire High School series came up in his blog:

:thumb303987565:

I love it when fans can brainstorm together. :iconpoly-m: and I actually had a similar concept way back in November last year which we wrote out in EPIC detail. The origin of Mass Effect characters in high school was itself spun from another conversation poly-m had with loudchai .

Props also go out to artastrophe and lubyelfears as well for adding to the silliness.

Some things are just TOO GREAT NOT TO SHARE, so without further ado, I shall start the lulz!

Mass Effect High: THE SERIES: SEASON ONE

Main Plot:

Season 1 starts in the summer practice season of Normandy High's football team, and follows the story of star football player John Shepard, a spaceborn kid who's caught the attention of some of the big time university football coaches in Citadel City. The pilot episode conflict will be about Shepard, who is the captain and star of the Normandy high school football team (their mascot is Cerebus), and the obstacles that he must overcome in order to win a prestigious football scholarship to the Alliance College. He is neck to neck in talent against Saren, the turian captain of his greatest rival team, The Reapers (from Harbinger Preparatory, a private school), who is desperate to beat out Shepard whatever it takes.

Secondary Plot:

The school is putting on a play to be directed by school auteur, Thane Krios, and co-sponsored by the Theater Club advisor, Dr. Solus. Because the same old conventions of theater are wearing thin, Thane wants to make this an experimental revival version of Romeo and Juliet with new musical dialog inserted in key scenes to make the piece more "accessible" and "contemporary." (Insert Elcor Hamlet here.) The drama production is a drama in and of itself.

THE CAST:

:bulletblue: John Shepard: Normandy High School's star football captain. Thanks to Shepard's leadership and skill, the Normandy High team has been sweeping the inter-school playoffs three years running. Shepard is now starting his senior year at Normandy, and the big championship games this fall could make or break his career.

:bulletblue: Coach Anderson: The Normandy High School football coach. He had a shot at playing in the big leagues for the Citadel Spectres but fell victim to a steroids scandal before  he could make the switch.

:bulletblue: Miranda Lawson: Normandy High's cheerleader captain. She has a very wealthy dad, and flaunts her status at school all the time. Has a crush on Shepard, and vies against Jack for lead Juliet role in school play.

:bulletblue: Kelly Chambers: Normandy High School cheerleader member (and town bicycle).

:bulletblue: Garrus Vakarian: The new transfer student. Is initially suspected of setting up Shepard with a fake toxicology screening which disqualifies Shepard from the football final playoffs, but turns out to be on the same side as the Normandy team. Garrus has a history with Saren from their time together in middle school. (Also, Garrus's dad is the head of the local police force.)

:bulletblue: Thane Krios: Theater/Art/Photo teacher with a dramatic VISION for a Romeo & Juliet classic revival.

:bulletblue: Jack: Emo art student who goes by the pen name "Subject Zero". Crass and abrasive, Jack loathes authority and seeks to land Juliet role in play to make a political point to "The Homogeny". In Season 2, she changes significantly after meeting Dr. Kahlee Saunders, who gives the lost artist a new direction to focus her life. Secretly has a crush on Shepard.

:bulletblue: TIM: The Principal of Normandy high school. He seems to always know what's going on, but no one hardly ever sees him at school. He's a very elusive man.

:bulletblue: Jacob Taylor: Captain of the high school basket ball team; a good athlete in his own right, and a reliable right-hand man. Has loved Miranda since they were kids.

:bulletblue: Wrex Urdnot:  Football player from the "wrong side of the Tuchunka tracks"; befriends Grunt and convinces the young krogan to turn his energies towards football and scholarship to better himself.

:bulletblue: Grunt: A young krogan torn between loyalty to his family and his dreams to make it big.

:bulletblue: Okeer: Grunt's father. A has-been football player who broke his leg before his big game and never recovered. Doesn't want his son to lead the same life. Possibly affiliated with the local gangs.

:bulletblue: Tali vas Neema: A talented young mechanic, inventor, and hacker; hangs out mostly in the school workshop. Tali mostly keeps to herself. She attends school during the day and works at an autoshop in the afternoon and evenings to help pay for her school tuition.

:bulletblue: Legion: The school mega computer. Possibly a secret project Tali has been building for the science fair.

:bulletblue: Joker Moreau: Shepard's best friend. Suffers from brittle bone disease but that hasn't stopped him from being the class clown. Later pairs up w/Tali as the test pilot of some of her new hover inventions.

:bulletblue: Edi Moreau:  Joker's mom. Away on intergalactic business trips all the time and so unable to be with her son in person much. She usually communicates with him through a blue holo orb avatar via the Mass Effect relay network. Because she's so far away, the video projection usually doesn't have enough bandwidth to come through. She appears as a glowing blue orb.

:bulletblue: Doctor Samara, MD: The Normandy high school nurse. She's a MILF that every boy at Normandy high would like to be with.

:bulletblue: Ms. Chakwas:  the Normandy school librarian and part-time guidance counselor.

:bulletblue: Benezia T'Soni: The Rival School guidance counselor.

:bulletblue: Saren Arterius: The football team captain of The Reapers.

:bulletblue: Sovereign: The mysterious "benefactor" of Normandy's rival school. Provides nano-steroid injections to the team.

:bulletblue: Udina: The rival school principal; a total douchebag who hates Shepard but generally not aware of the under-handed tactics his school charges employ.

:bulletblue: Kaidan Alenko: Glee club and chess club president. Kaidan's frequent migraines associated with his biotics lands him in the hospital quite often.

:bulletblue: Ashley Williams: The Normandy high school softball and volley ball captain. An athletic and smart student with a passion for poetry.

:bulletblue: Liara T'Soni: The resident Normandy High nerd. Benezia's estranged daughter.

:bulletblue: Zaeed:  The Normandy High PE teacher.

:bulletblue: Kasumi: The genius slacker (hacker). Her family's very wealthy, and she only attends school when she feels like it because she tests out of everything else/just hacks into the computer and adjusts her score.

:bulletblue: Aria: the local pip/drug dealer/gang Queen. Secretly aspires to become a fashion designer.

:bulletblue: Dr. Mordin Solus:  the Normandy High School biology and chemistry teacher. Rumor has it that he once served in the Salarian Intelligence Agency.

:bulletblue: Morinth: A femme fatale/bad girl who ensnares young (wo?)men to the detriment of their GPAs and extracurricular activities. You know, she's the one that smokes in the bathroom and you never really see her attending any actual classes. She's a Bad Influence. Or maybe she's someone's older sister who's dropped out/graduated but still hangs around stirring up trouble and luring others to wallow with her in deviancy.

:bulletblue: Conrad Verner: Shepard's Number One Fan! He keeps trying out for the team but never makes the cut. Since he still wants so much to be a part of it, he ends up the towel boy/waterboy. Or the mascot.

:bulletblue: Emily Wong:  the school paper editor. Although generally working in the name of good, she is always trying to uncover the latest juicy secrets.

:bulletblue: Khalisah bint Sanin Al-Jilani: The lead reporter at the Westerlund News in the Rival School.

:bulletblue: Mr. Pressley: The cranky history/geography teacher. He grades the football players harsher than everyone else because he thinks everyone else coddles them. (It's one of those schools whose identity is so wrapped up in their team that a lot of teachers let the star players slide...)

SEASON TWO CAST:

:bulletblue: Kai Leng: A prodigy dropout from Alliance College who is recruited for the Rival School as their secret weapon. His inclusion seems like it would be against the rules, but because he is of the same age as the other students and never graduated high school, he is allowed admittance in the competitions. Kai Leng has extensive cybernetics who increase his already startling prowess. Introduced at the Season 1 cliff hanger.

:bulletblue: Kahlee Saunders: A new teacher who is introduced to head up the new biotic division of Normandy High in the beginning of Season 2. Kahlee has a past with Coach Anderson, and seems to be the only person who can get Jack to behave. She's also the daughter of town founder John Grissom.

:bulletblue: Steve Cortez: The only openly gay guy at Normandy High. Even though homosexuality was long ago accepted and marriage was legalized across the galaxy in 2030, for some reason he is the only gay male student on the campus.

:bulletblue: James Vega: A member of the Normandy High Wrestling team. Best friends with Steve Cortez with whom the extent of his relationship is a big question mark (and constantly under speculation by school gossips). He joins the crew in the Season 2 pilot after crashing his car into an EVA gang vehicle. The EVA gang raid was commissioned on behalf of the Reaper Team to steal records from Normandy High's school archives. He gains notoriety for being an incredibly bad driver.

:bulletblue: Javik: a mysterious and scornful hipster introduced in Season 2. Javik holds himself at a distance from everyone and looks down on most people and alienates them with a cutting word or cruel remark. He seems to implicitly trust Shepard, however, which may have something to do with an incident that happened in Shepard's childhood. In public, Javik always wear gloves and avoids touching or being touched. But behind that cold mask hides a painful secret. (My thanks to PaeBac for the idea!)

:bulletblue: Kenneth Donnelly: One of the tech students at Normandy High, Ken has an easy going smile and doesn't care much about anything outside of tech shop and his best friend Gabriella. (props to Hallowedlady for the reminder to add these guys!)

:bulletblue: Gabriella Daniels: A serious sort, Gabriella is best friends with Ken and determined to get onto the Alliance scholarship for engineers. She's a positive influence on her friend and pushes him to be better.

What about Jane Shepard, John's younger sister who just started Normandy High and is badass at programming and throwing... stuff? Also has a crush on Miranda from day one at school, but that somehow turned into rivalry or something x)
